ComingSoon.net talked to 20th Century Fox Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman at the Gotham Independent Film Awards last night and he said that they want Matthew Vaughn back to direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class sequel. In his quote Rothman also refers to the fact they would like Rupert Wyatt back to direct the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel.
“Both of them were really great scripts and so we have to be sure to get great scripts again,” Rothman said. “We’re working hard on the scripts for both of them, but we have every hope of moving forward with them.
I thoroughly enjoyed X-Men:First Class even though Fox feels the need to take some generous liberties with the X-Men mythos. The movie was fun and the story was solid enough so sign me up for a sequel.
