Toy Fair 2015 has so many highlights. Few are brighter than what the folks at Funko have going on. Few are more numerous. This year at Toy Fair I took over 2000 photos. I have edited them down, gotten rid of some bum pictures, but still, I feel like about half of what I took, I took, and even re-took at the Funko booth. There is just so, so much available in 2015 from Funko.
Trying to figure out how to write this post was a little bit challenging, but in the end I think I’m going to give you the size / line and then a gallery for it, and just keep going. I’m going to save Pop for the last, because it’s so huge, and we already know so much about it. Away we go!
The Funko Booth
Always one of Toy Fair’s best dressed booth, Funko delivers on display space and fun eye catching decorations…huge, fun eye catching decorations.
I don’t know if you come by MUReview every Friday, or if you follow Funko, but Hikari Friday is a thing, it’s awesome, and what it is…well, have a look.
Yes…that’s a thing I just said. I was just as surprised to see it as I think you might be reading it. Let me tell you though, this is exciting. Shown at Toy Fair were salt and pepper shakers (Cap Iron Man / Spider-Man Venom), and mugs…that you use to drink out of! Very excited, these will both be on my shopping list! Look for this in stores in the second half of 2015.
The Fabrikations line is continuing and going strong. We will get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Baymax, Groot! So much more throughout 2015!
Vinyl Sugar is a big deal. It’s not main-line Funko, it’s it’s own entity of highly stylized pop culture properties in a few different flavors. First you have the more literal statuesque take on popular characters from Say Anything, Dodge Ball, Back to the Future, the list is endless and the pictures are gorgeous. You’ve also got Vinyl Vixens featuring some of DCs hottest heroines and villainous..es. Plus, a large offshoot of deluxe figures, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Deadpool to name a few. Prices range from $19.99 all the way up to $80.
Think Funko Pops, but with less arms and legs? At two price points ($9.99 / $25ish…based on bad handwriting), Dorbz will be window boxed figures featuring Marvel characters and more, and will release through 2015.
Continuing with the theme that Funko has the license to make literally everything ever in plastic format, ReAction figures. This year Funko is adding Big Trouble In Little China, Fifth Element, Breaking Bad, The Flash, to an already incredibly robust lineup of characters and properties. Notably missing though, The Last Starfighter…and yes, I did mention that!
Funko has some great licenses for their 6-inch figures including Game of Thrones, Firefly, Magic the Gathering, The Book of Life, Fantastic Mr. Fox, the list is ever growing, my wallet is ever weeping.
Think Fabrikations, but tiny, and a little sad, and you get Mopeez! Marvel Characters, including Groot and Rocket, showing their sad faces to make you happy. I must have them all!
Well, here we are. The bread and butter of the Funko universe, Pop! In all of it’s wonderful forms, we were introduced to so many great new items.
- Deadpool with Taco Truck
- Sesame Street
- Harry Potter
- Doctor Who
- The Matrix
- Family Guy
- And for me, the surprise of the day, Garbage Pail Kids! These will be sold blind boxed, just like the old card packs!
Enough rattling off names, these are all obviously coming in 2015. You must buy all of them, and you will like it. Also, I hope you will like the pictures!
