Starting off this week of Custom Figures, we go off theme and will lead up to a cosmic blasty blast.  This was a gift from eBay custom maker 1andonly5711.  He was so thankful that we gave Vance Astro some screen time  that he decided to show how gracious he was by sending us one of his ‘best works’, and I tend to agree.  Look out below…for …SCORPION! Check out 1andonly5711 on eBay too!

Scorpion

Packaging

This figure did not come in a box / on a card.

Paint

There is a significant amount of detail here.  The body has the well known Scorpion green with darker green smartly used to highlight muscle tone.  All of the lines are clean and sharp and plenty of attention to detail was paid.

Articulation

As per usual, with a custom, I’m not touching it, so I can’t often say much about articulation.  However, in this case, Scorpion comes with a very interesting piece of ‘articulation’ that I’d hesitate to call an accessory.  The tail.  While the tail doesn’t move, it’s well connected to the figure and does an excellent job of portraying the actual appendage.
UPDATE: The tail does move and bend into place. I heard from the creator, I just didn’t want to break it off 🙂

Character Likeness

The Scorpion character was treated with respect here.  There is alot of accuracy, and the only true inaccuracy that I see with most of the images you can find of Scorpion is the tail coloring.  I honestly think it looks a little bit cooler being metallic as it is.

Accessories

We have the tail, articulation, accessory, the only complaint with it, is that it’s metallic and not green.

Overall

We have another well painted custom from 1andonly5711.  The extra steps taken to capture the definitive piece of Scorpion are very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing what else 1andonly5711  comes up with.

Grade

Displayed front and center – Perfect score (5 out of 5)

Rating System: Each figure will be reviewed under the following categories:
Packaging
Paint
Articulation
Accessories
Character Likeness
Overall: Each figure will then be given an overall grade out of 5 levels:
Displayed front and center – Perfect score
Displayed but more to the side – Second best, nothing wrong with that
Displayed somewhere I might see it – Displayed, it’s good, I like it, not as much as others.
Displayed but buried in the back – Not all that great, but no other options for this figure
Stored* – It’s really not worth displaying.
*This will be caveat-ed, if the figure is excellent but is being moved out in favor of a better version of the same character, this will be explained.
