Marvel Select Captain America

Today we are going to take a look at this Marvelous representation of Captain America from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  This is Cap in his “stealth suit” as displayed in Captain America: Winter Soldier.  I know I’m kinda late on this one…Captain America Winter Soldier came out 2 years ago, and the figures around the same time.  But hey, better late then never, and…we get Civil War this year, so this is almost timely again!   A good figure is always worth having a look at anyway!

The Good

  • The face sculpt is great here, you can see Chris Evan’s face even with the mask on.  The look in the eyes really hammers it home.
  • Articulation is good allowing for a multitude of Cap poses, including a solid shield toss.
  • The shield has molded on straps that look great and fit the figure very well.  The shield won’t be falling off, you need to take it off if you want to remove it.
  • Finely detailed stand is included with S.H.I.E.L.D logo.
  • As with all of my favorite Marvel Select figures, Cap has a very good weight to him.  I like that, makes me feel like he can take a punch.  I mean, don’t punch a figure, that’d be weird. But if you did, he could take it.

The Bad

  • The included stand is appreciated, more accessories still would have been more appreciated.  how about that pointed finger hand.

The rest

It’s weird to me still.  We have come to a point with comics and movies that there is easily enough to support independent products / product lines for each, comic and movie versions.  For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Captain America, this is a huge win, to have this awesome alternative (to the modified stars and stripes) outfit.  You have a solid figure that is film accurate and highly pose-able.  There isn’t a lot more you can ask for in a figure.  It should be noted that there is also a battle damaged version of the figure available…also awesome!
