Leaving Toy Fair 2014 I had an unfortunate amount of new and exciting ‘toys’ to look forward to collecting.  Unfortunate because, mostly I can’t afford the long and large lines that have absorbed my passion for plastic for many many years now.  However, Funko’s new Marvel Mystery Mini line is too gorgeous to pass up….so I didn’t pass it up.

I made an intentional trip to Hot Topic last weekend and picked up a few blind boxes for about 6 bucks a piece (buy one get one 50% off).  My haul was the following:

Dr. Doom

Green Goblin

Loki

Dr. Doom…really?  Damnit!  Four boxes at 6 bucks each and in my first grab I have a duplicate?  Out of around 30 figures?? That sucked.  Immediately put me right back off of blind box collecting, not that my Lego Movie figure experience with my son wasn’t enough. I guess I just like trouble.  Going forward, I’ll probably eBay the Mystery Minis I want, in the long run I think it’s going to be a far more financially sound decision.

The above not withstanding, the below is true.

These mini bobbles are gorgeous, they really are.  The facial expressions exquisitely capture mirth and mayhem on these villainous faces.  I grabbed a few images below using my new work issued Samsung Galaxy S4.  I probably won’t be using it for photo shoots..ever again.  It was however, a fun experiment.

Marvel Mystery Minis are available now wherever fine Marvel toys are sold, but Hot Topic does have a few exclusive figures that you won’t be able to snag anywhere else.  Because of that, it’s tough to recommend grabbing them anywhere else.  However, always buy stuff at Big Bad Toy Store, because it’s just the right thing to do!

Dr. Doom

Green Goblin
