Marvel Infinite 2015 Year In Review
Marvel Infinite closes 2015 with it’s second full year in production, continuing to carry the torch that the Marvel Universe toy line passed off to close out 2013.  2015 Marks the release of 3 amazing waves of figures, as well as the end of the Marvel Infinite toy line (in name only).  2016 will see the launch of the Marvel 3.75 inch toy line re-branded as Marvel Legends, this, to match up with the 6 inch figure line in name, packaging and branding.  Enough about the future, let’s talk about the Marvelous year that Marvel Infinite gave to us, 18 new figures, 3 re-issues for a total line up of 21 figures released on the Marvel Infinite card back.  We got 12 characters that have never been in the Hasbro main 3.75 inch Marvel line before, and gorgeous new outfits for everyone else.  Calling out the re-issues before we dive into the waves, we got a Miles Morales Spider-Man, a Daredevil from a prior 2-pack, which is an amazing figure mind you, but needs no further mention here, and a Hawkeye.

Wave 1 (click for original review)

Wave 1 brought us the variants of the year.  2 different paint app Sandman figures, 2 different paint app and head sculpt Beast figures, Bishop, Black Cat and Big Time Spider-Man with Hawkeye and Daredevil re-pack kickers.  A solid start to a great year.  Click the link above for our original review, check out the family shots and some new thoughts on figures we’ve lived with for the year.

Sandman

The Good

  • I love his sand fist bashy thing.

The Bad

  • When pants break articulation flow… but I guess he needs pants.

Sandman (Full Sand Variant)

The Good

  • The creepy white eyes still get me every time.

The Bad

  • Pants or ankles, pants or ankles.

Beast

The Good

  • Every time I see a healthy 90’s X-Men roster on my shelf, my heart smiles a little.

The Bad

  • Because Beast is such an acrobatic character, this is one of the few cases that I feel like the lack of articulation actually hurts the representation of the character.

Beast (Variant)

The Good

  • A vintage character captured perfectly.

The Bad

  • Because Beast is such an acrobatic character, this is one of the few cases that I feel like the lack of articulation actually hurts the representation of the character.

Black Cat

The Good

  • She is just none more black.  Such a great paint application here.

The Bad

  • She’s got the frail legs, but hers have held up. So far so good!

Big Time Spider-Man

  • The Good
    • Another deep, dark, black paint app.

    The Bad

    • The fact that I can’t take the web slinging hand and put it in a web slinging pose due to lack of wrist articulation is a little frustrating.

Bishop

  • The Good
    • This is just a slick, dead-on comic accurate figure.

    The Bad

    • 1 pistol grip…2 guns.

Best of Wave 1

BISHOP!  With clean sharp lines and perfect comic-a-like presence, this one is an absolute no brainer.

Wave 2 (click for original review)
Wave 2 gave us a more traditional wave of figures, Shanna, Thunderstrike, Vulture, Armored Daredevil, Doctor Octopus and a re-pack of Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales.  Getting two classic Spider-Man villains in the main Marvel 3.75 inch line was a huge win for this wave.  Thunderstrike is a really strong figure, Armored Daredevil looks great…and Shanna, what could have been.

Thunderstrike

The Good

  • One of the more solid feeling Thors yet released.

The Bad

  • Turns out, for display…who really cares what the color of the T on top of Thunderstrike is…

Vulture

The Good

  • I love how old he is captured here.  He looks crotchety as all hell.

The Bad

  • The wings…I still hate how hard it is to get the wings to stay in.  I don’t want to glue them, but that seems like the only sure fire 100% success method.

Doc Ock

The Good

  • I dig that you can spin the tentacles.

The Bad

  • Keeping the tentacles in is sometimes a challenge.

Shanna

The Good

  • The outfit

The Bad

  • Every time I look at the unpainted half of her face…

Armored Daredevil

The Good

  • He just looks so freaking awesome.

The Bad

  • Daredevil is another acrobat, the limited articulation is still noted here.

Best of Wave 2

ARMORED DAREDEVIL The red is bright, the black is deep and dark, the lines are clean, and he’s ready for a fight.

Wave 3 (click for original review)
Wave 3 hammered home 2015 with 4 never before released characters and two with brand new costumes.  Unstoppable Colossus, Chameleon, Korg, Emma Frost, X-Man Deadpool and the very long awaited North Star.  Not that I have a section for it but Wave 3 wins the year.   Figures long awaited, nice surprises, and just a solid dig into a deep catalog of Marvel characters.

Deadpool

The Good

  • Deadpool in this classic costume is such a great character to have, and the heads…you get two!

The Bad

  • Still annoying that he has a holster but a gun too big for it.

Korg

The Good

  • The fact that Korg made it to plastic is amazing and astonishing.

The Bad

  • A little more crack detail would have been appreciated (fill in with black paint, make it pop!).

Emma Frost

The Good

  • The build of this figure is perfect for the character.  Frail, delicate, spot on representation.

The Bad

  • Because of the good, my hulk hands broke this poor girls foot.

The Unstoppable Colossus

The Good

  • The Juggernaut body type is one of my favorite in the line and this was great re-use.

The Bad

  • Inconsistent paint application.

Chameleon

The Good

  • The best part about this figure is how many other figures we can get out of him.  Outright, you can buy 3 and have 3 different Chameleons…or Chameleon, Chameleon trying to look like someone else, and a suited Osborn.  But the custom possibilities for a suited body are endless.

The Bad

  • I’d like a Jonah head.

Northstar

The Good

  • I love his elfy ears.

The Bad

  • Now that I have him, waiting as long as I had to, doesn’t seem so bad.

Best of Wave 3

EMMA FROST, apart from the fact that I broke her, she’s awesome.  The paint app, the face, and even the dainty poses she can move to.

And MUReview’s favorite Marvel Infinite figure of 2015 is…..

BISHOP!  Because BISHOP!
