Custom X-Force Fantomex

In our short time as a site publishing content MUReview.net has been lucky to make some really good friends, contacts, acquaintances, and associates.  One of those good people is Alan from Texas, onlinebuyer21 (eBay).  It is through him we have been able to offer you one good giveaway, and many more are to come.  We are also able to offer those that buy any of Alan’s customs on eBay a discount on shipping or a price drop depending on which is less.  Not lastly or least, Alan has hooked us up with this outstanding custom X-Force Fantomex for our own keeping and review!  As this is a custom, review sections may be limited.  I really don’t wanna touch it, it’s pretty awesome.  Scroll to the bottom or check out a summary of our new rating system HERE.

Also, before we get to the goods, check out Alan’s work HERE!  Check out his auctions HERE!

On of the truly awesome things that Alan is able to do is produce his own custom card backs.  It is because of this he gets to use his own personal taste to determine what goes on the front and on the back.  The man has an outstanding eye for detail and good art.  The man also has a decent supplier of plastic figure trays…me :).  The packaging is full of win and the fact that he produces it alone puts him head and shoulders above most of the other custom makers out there that stop at the figure.

This is really the bones of the custom.  The articulation isn’t something I’m going to pay a lot of attention to, a custom is made from parts of other figures and by that nature the custom maker can only be held partially responsible for anything in that department.  Paint however, is everything.  This figure shines.  The paint is done free hand and the lines still came out great to define this as the X-Force version of Fantomex.  The zigs and zags look great, the lines are defined and clean.  The boots and gloves are well done and the head is finely detailed.  I’d like to think that if they made a production run at Fantomex he’d look this good.

This is a custom made of parts of other figures.  They fit together well enough and the figure probably moves, but I am not going to test this out here.  Moving customs can hurt the paint, and while I’m sure that Alan has done his due diligence to prevent such things with proper finishing, I don’t want to mess up one of my new favorite figures.

Character Likeness

It’s Fantomex in his X-Force outfit excellently captured.

Accessories

Alan saw fit to hook me up with two guns that fit the figure and the hands.

Overall

Alan has graced us with more than a few outstanding custom figures.  This one by far is my favorite.  That may be because I am a big fan of both X-Force and Fantomex.  Thank you for the figure Alan, MUReview appreciates it. More, one of our lucky fans will appreciate the other Fantomex you gave us to giveaway!  I can’t give a figure a 10…oh wait, I can it’s my site.

Grade

Paint
Articulation

Character Likeness
OverallEach figure will then be given an overall grade out of 5 levels:
Displayed front and center – Perfect score
Displayed but more to the side – Second best, nothing wrong with that
Displayed somewhere I might see it – Displayed, it’s good, I like it, not as much as others.
Displayed but buried in the back – Not all that great, but no other options for this figure
Stored* – It’s really not worth displaying.
*This will be caveat-ed, if the figure is excellent but is being moved out in favor of a better version of the same character, this will be explained.
