The Patriot

During the Golden Age of Comics, the Patriot was one of the more popular “second-tier” characters at Timely Comics, appearing regularly from 1941-1946! The Patriot’s first appearance in Marvel Comics was at the climax of the Kree-Skrull War in Avengers #97, as one of the simulcrums of 1940s heroes created by the Kree Supreme Intelligence from the memories of Rick Jones! Later, Roy Thomas made the Patriot the leader of the Liberty Legion, the group of homefront heroes of World War Two introduced in the Invaders comic title; and revealed that the Patriot was the third man to assume the mantle of Captain America!
