The releases for the week of July 4th weren’t exactly stellar. I quite honestly thought about skipping this week altogether, but in the end narrowed my choice down to Wolverine #310 written by Jeph Loeb and art by Simone Bianchi.
Unlike my first two picks for “Comic of the Week” I’m not going to give a rave review of this book. The issue is good, not great. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Wolverine, but at the very least this book is worth a read if a friend will let you borrow it.
The only reason I say that is because this issue tells you exactly how Sabertooth survived having his head cutoff by Wolverine so many years ago. I know, just like me you thought Sabertooth is dead for good. I mean, characters in comic books NEVER come back to life. Shame on us.
Not only does this issue give you the return of Sabertooth, but we also get the return of Wolverines puppet master, Romulus. If you don’t know the back story of Romulus I’m sorry, but it is just involved to explain here. The short of it is basically Romulus claims he is behind everything that has ever happened to Wolverine.
Needless to say we have our typically less than friendly Wolverine all issue. The biggest plus of this issue is the art style. The art feels strong and really portrays all these characters very well.
So for that reason borrow this issue and read it. Please don’t spend money on it unless you are a Wolverine fanatic.
Here is to hoping for better comics come July 11th. (New Walking Dead this coming week so hopes are high!)
Honorable Mention: NOTHING!
