When Nintendo reached out to litlgeeks and MUReview a few weeks back with an offer to check out their upcoming ARMS game for the Nintendo Switch, we jumped at the chance! We’ve been huge Nintendo fans since the very beginning, and our Nintendo Switch is on pretty much constantly. We had a quick preview of ARMS, which you can check out HERE. For now though, we want to go into a little bit more detail about the game, it’s modes, and all the different kinds of fun you can have with it!! So sit back, relax, and watch the litlgeeks work, or if you want to read a little more about it, keep on scrolling past the video for a brief summary of the modes and stuff you can do and our overall thoughts about the game. Remember everyone! ARMS is out for the Nintendo Switch June 16th!!
What to Expect
Arms at it’s core is a boxing game. A boxing game with some major springy twists!
Two Joy-Con’s (one in each hand) – this is where the game shines allowing for actually punching in the air. Punch to punch, bring the cons to your chest to block, you can even curve your punches!
Two Joy-Cons in the controller grip
The Pro Controller (recommended for competitive online matches for more precise real time controls)
Two Joy-Cons connected to the Switch
Grand Prix – This arcade mode offers you 10 fights, mixing in mini games like Basketball, Volley Ball and Target breaking. You can play with one or two players. If you go two players, each match becomes 2 on 2. You must play through this mode on level 4 difficulty or above to unlock Ranked online battles. Consider Grand Prix your story mode, there are even boss fights!
Versus – Versus has a ton of fun fighting options here!
Fight – One on one fight with power ups and healing pickups!
Team Fight – It’s two on two in this battle mode.
V-Ball – It’s volleyball, with an explosive ball, get it on the other side of the court away from your team!
Hoops – Why play Basketball with a ball when you can use your opponent!
Skillshot – Break as many targets as possible using the versatile powers of ARMS.
1-on-100 – Yep, beat 100!
ARMS Test & Training – Test mode let’s players try out all their different ARMS and characters.
Multiplayer modes are available that let players get to punching locally or on line!Party Match – You can hop on the Internet here into a lobby of up to 20 people and you ARMS party!
Ranked Match – This is where the bragging rights come in. fight online in a ranked match! One on one, mano y mano, just me and you and my gua…. no it’s just one on one, no frills, skill vs. skill rank up!
Local Wireless Mode: 8 systems in the same room!?! Yes please!
The Fighters and the Arms:
Nintendo brings us a roster of 10 colorfully designed, incredibly creative characters to choose from, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
Over 30 different ARMS to choose from that you can mix and match in all kinds of ways to give you the advantage over your opponent!
The litlgeeks and MUReview have been playing ARMS since the review code showed up a few weeks ago. We love the game, and getting to play every day is a treat. There is way more jumping involved than they should be doing at all, but it’s still very funny to watch. There is a ton of depth to the game to keep them coming back between different opponents, ARMS, levels and minigames. While the online component isn’t something our litlgeeks are truly ready to compete in, they are enjoying it to the fullest under close supervision. This is the most important part though, the litlgeeks are litlboys. We are parents. There are almost no two litlboys as brothers in the world that don’t want to hit each other once in a while, whether in fun or frustration. A parents challenge is to not let that happen. Enter ARMS. Now we can let it happen and let them have fun with it! No one gets hurt, ARMS is only a few weeks old in our house and it is already settling arguments without a push, punch, or brotherly slap! The game is a ton of fun for one, and easily twice that for two. It’s rated E for everyone, you shouldn’t think twice about picking this up if you have a Nintendo Switch! The litlgeeks give it their two thumbs up honor!
MUReview received ARMS for free for review.

MUReview and The litlgeeks are ecstatic to be able to share with you, this little preview of a game called ARMS. ARMS is coming out June 16th 2017 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. There are a bunch of fun ways to play ARMS, but at the root of the fun, you hold a Joy-Con in each hand and beat the heck out of each other by swinging your arms and throwing punches with your ARMS! Sound exciting? Sound fun!? It is! Check out the video below for a quick preview, and stay tuned for our deeper look into ARMS and all of it’s game modes later in the month of June!
As you can see, ARMS is an absolute blast to play (and a bit of a work out!). The litlgeeks love the game and have been playing since we downloaded it. Over the next few weeks we will check out all of the modes, play online, and have as much fun as we can so we can share a more in depth review with you. For now, check out some official details and some official screen shots right from Nintendo, and remember ARMS comes out June 16th 2017 for the Nintendo Switch!

The litlgeeks and MUReview can’t get enough Lego Dimensions, so when the next wave of Lego Dimensions packs started hitting shelves, the excitement became overwhelming. Thankfully, our good friends at Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment sent us the Lego City Fun Pack for free to share with you!
The Lego City Fun Pack offers one of the most fun Lego Dimensions characters to date, Chase McCain. With his helicopter, he’s already great out of the box. But if you go through the Lego City world, you can unlock a bunch of different outfits with different abilities for Chase! Fireman, Policeman, Construction work, and more!
Syberia 3 showed up on the shores of MUReview.net this week and we got a chance to check it out. We’d like to thank Microids for sending it to us for free for review. Syberia 3 is, if you can believe it, the third game in the Syberia series. The last game in the series, Syberia 2 was released in 2004, so it’s been a while. This entry in the series, 3, was originally slated for release in 2010. So after at least 7 years in the oven, let’s see how the series holds up! MUReview performed this review against the Playstation 4 version of the game.
Engrossing, compelling story line.
Creative, fun, and engaging puzzles.
Solid graphics throughout the game, crisp, sharp.
Functional intuitive control scheme.
The color palate and tone of the visuals in the game capture the intended mood of each scene and environment very well.
When voice acting is good, it’s very, very good.
The biggest hindrance for me in this game is that you begin the game with little to no reference to story prior to this game (Syberia, Syberia 2). I had to dig and do my own research on the Internet.
The game does have it’s share of bugs. Lip sync at times is off putting. Frame rate problems, a few rough clicks / target areas.
When voice acting is bad, it’s pretty rough.
Syberia 3 is just getting started for me. I look forward to spending more time with it and getting through all of the games intricate puzzles. That stated, this review encompasses general feel of the game, play-ability, surface features. I avoided a full playthrough for a few reasons, spoiling the game for you chief among those reasons. If I know what’s going to happen I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut! That said, we have had a good time so far with Syberia 3 despite it’s hiccups and we think you will enjoy it too…so much so, that we are going to give away a copy! Keep reading!
The litlgeeks and MUReview are all about their Nintendo 3DS systems! Today we got a treat from our friends at Nintendo, Mario Sports Superstars for Nintendo 3DS. Admittedly…we had to put down Zelda Breath of the Wild on the Switch for a little to check it out, but spoiler alert, it’s awesome, it’s fun, and we love it. Check out the video!
Mario sports Superstars features:
Each game is fun, challenging and far deeper in game play than it appears at first blush. The game supports local and online multiplayer. You can train up your skills and play in single player tournaments too! The game is rich in game play, strategy (you really have to position your players to make the right plays), power ups, and all of the great fun you’d expect of any Mario game!
One of my favorite parts of the game…and this is daddygeek speaking, is just how familiar all of the sports games are, Tennis feels like Mario Tennis, Soccer feels like Mario Soccer, Golf…I had so much fun with Mario Golf through my lifetime, getting this in a compact package with a ton of other great games is pure joy. Nintendo once again does an outstanding job of capturing all of the sports franchises Mario has ever touched, they package them together wonderfully, and add in a ton of great modern features and functionality like online play!!
We can’t forget Road to Superstar mode either! Scanning three amiibo cards will unlock the Road to Superstar mode. By completing it, Superstar status will be given to the characters for “an even greater boost to their stats.” Think of it as…mini games to make you a Superstar!
While the litlgeeks didn’t really go too deep into Mario Sports Superstars, they had an awesome time playing and this is sure to be in their main rotation for a long long time. There is a ton of depth to uncover here and a thousand ways to play and it’s Mario…so it will all be instantly loved!
Did we mention amiibos? Mario Sports Superstars has it’s own amiibo interactions. The litlgeeks saw the amiibos logo, but we didn’t know until we started our write up. Nintendo is putting out sports card amiibos that unlock “Star” versions of the characters in the game!
“By tapping a Mario Sports Superstars series amiibo card, players can unlock the Star version of the corresponding character in the corresponding sport. A Star character has stronger stats than its regular counterpart, giving that character an edge in that particular sport.”
You can tap up to three amiibo cards to participate in the Road to Superstar mode.
“Completing this mode will bestow Superstar status on their characters, giving an even greater boost to their stats. For those keen to get ahead on the journey to sporting superstardom, the first print-run version of the game is the ideal place to begin, as it includes Mario Sports Superstars and one randomly chosen amiibo card, so players can get their collections off to a flying start.”
There is so much more fun for us to have in Mario Sports Superstars and we can’t wait! You shouldn’t either! Click the links to buy your copy and amiibo cards today!
