SDCC 2017 Hasbro Exclusive: Luke Skywalker with X-34 Speeder

HASCON has come and gone, but the exclusives will be on my shelf forever.  We’ve already had a look at three outstanding HASCON exclusives that I’m over the moon to now have on my shelves.  However, there were more exclusives available at HASCON than just HASCON exclusives.  HASCON goers had a “second chance” at some of the incredible Hasbro SDCC 2017 exclusives. Many of these SDCC exclusives were available in very limited quantities and sold out pretty quickly.  One of the SDCC exclusives still on the shelf at HASCON (but not yet on my shelf), by day 2 was Luke Skywalker with the X-34 Speeder.  Being that my meager black series shelf was still missing a proper Luke, and given that the price was very reasonable on the show floor, I figured…yeah, I’m gonna have to get this.

When I got it home though, and shot the package shots you’ll see below, I ran into a problem.  For the first time in almost forever…I did not want to open the box.  It’s sealed up and packaged like an Apple product, but you can see the Speeder and Luke perfectly displayed inside with a locker that has his accessories.  It is for that reason, that until I run out of shelf space and absolutely have to unbox this, I am offering and sharing only in package shots here, and will not provide a full review.

The Rest

It’s an almost never scenario for me to not unbox a toy.  It’s just that pretty.  The colors on the box are gorgeous, the window inside is perfect for perpetual display.  Not only would I suggest that this is worth tracking down, but it’s worth keeping in the box for yourself!

HASCON 2017 Exclusive: Transformers Arcee

Welcome to this historic moment in MUReview history.  Our second ever Transformers review!  (our first was in the SDCC IDW set – Jetfire…it was amazing, but it was only one…if I do two…you can rest assured there will be more go forward…thus, historic).  This also happens to be our third of four looks at HASCON exclusives.  MUReview and litlgeeks hit the HASCON show floor with heavy intentions upon Marvel, Marvel Legends, and pure fun toys for the litlgeeks.  We achieved those intentions and brought you an insane amount of coverage from HASCON.  We loved everything we saw out of Marvel, all of the announcements were fantastic.  One of the biggest jaw droppers for us at the show though (shhhh don’t tell the Marvel team), was the Transformers Generations Rodimus Prime set.  The figure can start out as Hot Rod, and you can “evolve” him into a full Rodimus Prime with trailer and all.  I can’t wait for it to come out, but you’ll ask, why am I blathering on about that when this review is for Arcee…well, one it’s not out yet, so this review isn’t about him, two, Arcee was the Transformers exclusive for HASCON and she’s a stunning Transformer that I’d of been crazy to pass up, three, Rodimus is gonna need Transformers to hang out with on my shelf, and he and Arcee, they were cool with each other back in the day so….

The Good | The Bad The Rest | Availability  Photos

The Good

  • I never get tired of how clever Transformer transformation mechanics are, Arcee is no different.  She’s quick, easy, and elegant to transform.
  • Bright pink looks perfect against the pure white.
  • Arcee includes Arcee and Ultra Magnus heads.
  • Two blasters are included, fit perfect in her hand, fit perfect transformed as vehicle and still allows for rolling.
  • Clever hood piece flips to give Ultra Magnus a gunner seat when in vehicle mode.
  • She looks beefy and ready for a fight.
  • Two stat cards included.
  • Packaging is as clever as transformation, a cool fold out box that shows incredible Arcee artwork that is poster-worthy.

The Bad

  • This is an outstanding Transformer.  My only knock is a few sloppy lines of paint on the heads.

The Rest

HASCON had a bunch of fantastic exclusives.  I scored three, Deadpool, Cap Rex, and Arcee.  …and I scored the SDCC X-34 Speeder with Luke (our next…sorta review).  I am blissfully happy with the haul out of HASCON.  Hasbro killed it with compelling, fun exclusives, and to boot, they are making them all available at HasbroToyShop.com later this month…in just a few days actually!  If you love Transformers, you need to grab this Arcee, there is no question.  If you were thinking about getting into Transformers, Arcee is an outstanding place to start.  Couple her with Blurr and Hot Rod to get your Transformers The Movie shelf on!  As mentioned, I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2017 has for Transformers, specifically Rodimus Prime, but there are also other amazing Transformers coming too, so keep your eyes out!  We’d love to review em all for you!  They are truly more than meets the eye!

HASCON 2017 Exclusive: Captain Rex

HASCON 2017 Exclusive: Captain Rex

We here at MUReview.net love Star Wars.  Yes, our site has a comic focus, but Star Wars is at the literal core of our being.  So when we are at a convention, faced with the opportunity to buy a sick Star Wars exclusive…we will exhibit less than appropriate self control, and we will probably buy that Star Wars exclusive…that happened at HASCON 2017…twice.  Here with Captain Rex, and again with the Luke / X-34 Speeder SDCC exclusive that was available at HASCON.  Now…our love of Star Wars doesn’t necessarily translate into a wealth of knowledge regarding Star Wars toys.  We have…many, including the 6″ Black Series scale Tie Fighter that I still swoon over when I look at…but I don’t want you to continue reading thinking you are looking at the words of a Star Wars toy expert.  I just really love a lot of them…

The Good | The Bad The Rest | Availability  Photos

The Good

  • The white sheen on Rex is beautiful, and because of it, it’s the second time I get to use the word “pearlescent” in like a week.
  • The Stormtrooper helmet size and scale make it perfect for Rex and other Stormtroopers to have a removable helmet. It looks great, it fits great.
  • So much tiny detail here, all of the kill marks all over him, from shin to helmet.
  • Paint here is super clean, sharp, all the lines are just perfect.
  • Good face sculpt, for me, looks just like him!
  • Excellent accessories, rifle, blaster.
  • Antenna on helmet is articulated.
  • This is the first Star Wars figure to use Hasbro’s face mapping tech to produce a highly accurate face sculpt!

The Bad

  • It’d be nice to have a holster / place to hang his blaster.  A note to this…while I still always like holsters, Hasbro packed in extensive weaponry due to this being an exclusive, including Clone blasters that he doesn’t usually tote.  He does have his pistol holsters though, so this is character accurate.

The Rest

I hesitated a little before picking up Captain Rex at HASCON.  In fact, I didn’t pick him up till day two.  It’s not that he’s not amazing, he is, and I’m thrilled to have him now that I do, it was more a matter of how deep in Star Wars do I want to go.  If he weren’t an exclusive, would I have grabbed him…50/50.  If I got a hands on look at him first, it would be 100% yes, I’d grab him.  This is a beautiful figure.  If you collect Star Wars, there is no question or reason not to get him.  If you don’t, he’s still a great collector piece that would look outstanding on your shelf.  While Rex got his first release at HASCON, you are going to have another chance to pick him up!

Marvel Legends HASCON 2017 Exclusive: Deadpool

Well well well Deadpool you saucey minx, we meet again.  Hasbro caught lightening in a bottle with last years Marvel Legends Deadpool release (2016 X-Men wave).  Hasbro did something we haven’t seen before with a figure, and went and released a whole case of just Deadpool figures!  Fans of Deadpool can rejoice a whole second time!  First released at HASCON 2017 (soon to follow on HasbroToyShop.com 9/20), the X-Force Deadpool is an epic follow up to the vanilla flavored Deadpool of 2016.

The Good | The Bad The Rest | Availability  Photos

The Good

  • He’s different!  X-Force Deadpool is not only sporting his X-Force color scheme, he comes with different accessories and pieces!
    • Different Bazooka tip accessory (blast instead of boxing glove).
    • Different blue “plastic toy gun” look, as opposed to two grey handguns.
    • Different “Rifle” type weapon, Deadpool red and black color themed.
    • Two tricked out red and black color themed hand guns as opposed to two grey handguns.
    • Belt accessory is entirely different, features only utility packs, where red and black had holsters.
  • His boots are different, red and black had buckles, these are clean shins down to the feet with no sculpting.
  • Same pieces:
    • Swords
    • Sword sheathes / harness
    • Hip holster for gun
    • unmasked head
    • taco
    • bazooka (different color, same base bazooka).
  • Differences notwithstanding, this X-Force Deadpool does an outstanding job of representing his comic-self from head to toe.
  • Beautiful, clean paint application, sharp lines separate black and grey.
  • Perfect masked face expression.
  • He can still hold his taco perfectly.
  • Deadpool features some pretty fantastic, full modern suite of, articulation.

The Bad

  • Some of the accessory differences leave him with less easy ways for him to carry along all the pieces (fewer holsters).  I like holsters for all things…oh well.

The Rest

Some folks were mad at first announcement that this absolutely sick Deadpool figure would be made a convention exclusive.  I for one felt it made sense to earmark Hasbro’s first ever HASCON convention with something really fantastic.  It was known pretty early to boot too though, that this would be available after HASCON at HasbroToyShop.com.  We now have info on when it will be available, 9/20.  That means literally anyone with the internet, payment method, and a shipping address has a chance to get hands on.  That’s good news, because he’s worth wanting.  Hasbro knocked it out of the park with this X-Force Deadpool figure, very little to want for here.
