This is a glorious day for litlninja.  His favorite bot, in the best way possible.  Today, litlgeeks and MUReview get a look at the War For Cybertron Earthrise Netflix Bumblebee, and outside of Master Piece class bots, this Bee, is the Bees Knees!

Netflix Bumblebee

  • We tried to buy Bumble Bee at Walmart.com.  Our pre-order was in minute one.  They never sent it, constantly back ordered.  Until, our amazing friend Khalil at Kastor’s Korner came through for us and sent us a Bee from one of his …MANY toy hunts.  Thank you Khalil! Check him out at KastorsKorner.com / @kastorskorner
  • In bot mode:
    • This is the G1 Bumblebee we’ve always deserved
    • He. Looks. Perfect.
    • As a Masterpiece collector, I wish the feet on the latest MP Bee looked this good!
    • He’s got that outstanding Bee face, horns are exactly as they should be
    • I love the back of the car as a shield
    • He comes with a big bazooka!
  • In Alt Mode:
    • Farfegnugen
    • Freaking. Awesome. Volkswagen. Beetle.
    • Love this alt mode.  So clean, no kibble!
    • His bazooka can become a car cannon or water jets and skis for Bee in alt mode
  • Transformation
      • This is just a fun and clever transformation.  As with his mold cousin Cliffjumper, Bee’s legs line up, rotate, and flip around the bot, then the arms flip around that, and he turns into the most perfect VW Bug!

We watched War for Cybertron Earthrise on Netflix.  YOU watched War for Cybertron Earthrise.  Now it’s time to take a look at the figures!  Starting off, we are excited to have hands on Elita-1!

Netflix Bumblebee

  • You can pick up Elita-1 by going to Walmart, because even if you placed an order at Walmart.com, and they have them in stores, they don’t seem to be willing to ship them out…I have since canceled my preorder, and thanks to our awesome friend Khalil at Kastorskorner.com / @kastorskorner, we are able to review her for you today!
  • In bot mode:
    • She looks great, perfect color palate
    • Outstanding replication of on-screen Elita 1, note for note, Hasbro and Netflix worked closely on the show and toys, and it shows
    • Her legs are a little loosey gooesy at the knee
    • Backpack comes off to form a surfboard / stand that looks great and allows for some fun poses
    • Her face / head, Hasbro nailed it, she really looks great!
  • In Alt Mode:
    • Her alt mode is also screen / Netflix accurate, but being honest I prefer the jet Elita 1, while litlninja definitely prefers this version
    • We did have some transformation trouble as noted below that causes her legs to not allow the wheels to roll
    • She’s a great looking Cybertronian car, and looks very much like her cousin Arcee!
  • Transformation
      • This is one of the first bots that has stumped us.  She’s the same mold as Arcee.  Arcee was a little tricky to get her legs positioned right in alt mode, but we got it.  I spent an hour fiddling with this before the video, and another 20 minutes while shooting with litlninja, and we just couldn’t get the legs right.  Don’t know if it’s ours or a bigger issue, but it’s a problem we had
      • Otherwise, transformation is quick, and really simple.  Nothing intimidating
      • Additional transformation to make her backpack a ‘surfboard’ is very simple as well

litlholiday approved gifts!

War for Cybertron: Earthrise hits Netflix 12/31/2020, and by my calendar, that’s basically a week away.  So the fact that these Netflix series bots are hitting shelves at Walmart is really well timed on the part of Hasbro.  This take on Soundwave is a marvelous throwback to the golden G1 age of Transformers, and I can’t wait to see his mad cap fun on the TV screen.  While we are waiting though, it’s time to check out the figure with litlninja, and you can read below for more highlights!

Netflix Soundwave

  • You can pick up Soundwave by going to Walmart, because even if you placed an order, and they have them in stores, they don’t seem to be willing to ship them out…I have since canceled my preorder
  • In bot modes:
    • Soundwave is as G1 authentic as he has ever looked
    • He can do the tape eject pose!
    • He comes with Laserbeak and Ravage, and both look outstanding in bot mode
    • Soundwave includes his vintage blaster and shoulder cannon
    • His Soundwave face is so Soundwavey good!
    • Ravage has solid articulation for a little tiny thing
    • Laserbeak can perch coming out of Soundwaves chest, or on his shoulder or arm, and he looks great!
  • In Alt Modes:
    • He’s a tape deck, in 2020…a tape deck, and it’s all we ever wanted!
    • Really, side by side in the video he holds up perfectly well to the G1 Soundwave!
    • Laserbeak and Ravage are perfect cassettes on the front, with a little kibble on the back
    • Soundwave’s alt mode does have a little kibble on the back, but it’s cleverly hidden to think of them as transistors that need to be there so he can boom out the bass
  • Transformations
      • Soundwave is a very quick intuitive transformation, under 20 steps
      • Ravage 7 steps
      • Laserbeak checks in at 4
      • All very enjoyable to transform!
  • A little more
    • Soundwave checks in at $39.99 as kind of a Voyager deluxe with the tapes.  He’s an excellent value, and a must have for your litlbot fan this litlholiday season!

War for Cybertron Earthrise is upon us, and we get our feet wet with Voyager Class Grapple!  In this new era of Transformers, he may be one of our favorites, but he does have a little bit of trouble, so watch on, and read on.

Grapple | The Rest | AvailabilityPhotos

Grapple

  • You can pick up Grapple here for $29.99 today
  • In bot mode:
    • Glorious.  Though he’s much shorter, he stands shoulder to shoulder with the much more expensive….well…shoulder to waist?  With the much more expensive Masterpiece (MP) class bots.
    • Looks just G1 perfect
    • Face is toon spot on
    • Great accessories for use in bot mode, put his claw on his arm, or on his crane, slap on the ‘water’ spout, and he just looks amazing all ways
    • Highly pose-able, good balance too
  • Transformation
    • Transformation is fantastically simple here.  However, it is here where we find a very big problem
      • Going from bot to alt mode, Grapple has two pegs, one on either side of his head carriage piece, that tab into two holes on his feet, to make the crane piece nice, secure, and level.  When you push the pegs in, it’s a little stiff, and you’ll notice, the surrounding plastic on the pegs is pretty thin.  Either way, your first time into alt mode, all is well, nice and very snug
      • Going from alt mode back to bot mode, and un-tabbing those two same pegs, very difficult, they are in an over-tight hold a little too snug for good motion.  Getting them out broke one of our pegs off, and we checked on line, this isn’t an uncommon problem, we are going to give Hasbro Pulse a call and see if we can get a return on this one, he’s too amazing not to have!
  • Truck / crane Mode
    • While in alt mode, he’s maybe a little small when you compare him to other WFC:S car bots, he’s still beautiful
    • He’s every bit the G1 stylized Grapple we  hoped for in this modern era
    • Crane is fully articulating, and you can swap it’s ends for cool looks and function

The Rest

Warts and all, Grapple is truly an outstanding start for the Earthrise line.  He joins Hoist, Wheeljack, Cliffjumper, Ironworks, Optimus Prime, and Starscream in this first wave from Deluxe to Leader class, and it’s a stellar class.  We can’t wait to dive into all of them, and you can be sure we are going to do so very, very soon.  But we leave you, and Hasbro with this.  Please use this mold, and make us Inferno!  And fix the peg problem!

Today, the litlgeeks say goodbye to War For Cybertron S.I.E.G.E. with this amazing Triple Changer, Astrotrain, as our first litlbots video of 2020!  But fear not friends, we are gearing up for both Transformers at Toy Fair, and EARTHRISE!  For now though, let’s check out this last S.I.E.G.E. figure, because he’s really quite fantastic!

Astrotrain | The Rest | AvailabilityPhotos

Astrotrain

  • In bot mode:
    • This hits Transformers 86′ Movie home for me.  He looks quite the toon!
    • He moves fluidly, and very well, solid articulation here
    • It’s the face though, Hasbro has nailed it with the toon accurate face!
    • And those wings!
  • Transformation
    • Astrotrain is a triple changer, so you’ll get the chance to go bot, to ship, to train, and back again, and it’s all logical and fun!
  • Space Ship Mode
    • We had a little trouble getting the ..fuselage? to stay together.  I’m sure it’s my fault for ham handing and maybe missing a piece, but fought though we may, in ship mode it wouldn’t stay closed
      • Update to this, we got it.  We didn’t flip down the hip tabs properly.  It closes perfectly!
    • In spite of that, Astrotrain looks great in ship mode, and close to his G1 cousin
    • You don’t see any bot kibble, and barely any train mode
  • Train Mode
    • This is it right here.  I can see this bot rolling up to a bunch of defeated Decepticons at the battle of Autobot City and taking off.  He looks outstanding
    • The way that the nose of the train comes down is absolutely genius!

The Rest

It’s Astrotrain, and Hasbro has nailed the character likeness down to my memories.  He’s the last full sized S.I.E.G.E. figure, at least that I’m aware of, before we move on to Earthrise, and to say that I’m excited is an understatement…in spite of the fact that Amazon has already canceled my Optimus Prime pre-order and he’s sold out everywhere else….  litlgeeks will figure it out, and get Earthrise reviewed for you no matter what!  Happy 2020!

Today we are talkin’ SIEGE Triple Changers!  One that is famous for Monkeying Around….(see what i did there?)  The Titan Master, Apeface!  This big bad boy can be a bot, an ape, and a space ship.  Transformations are cool, tabs are tight, and we really dig him, but will you?

Apeface | The Rest | AvailabilityPhotos

Apeface

  • In bot mode:
    • He’s a solid looking bot, and if you look back at his G1 figure, there is clear intention by Hasbro here to replicate that, for the better!
    • I’ve read complaints about the white plastic, I think it looks good on the figure though
    • Titanmaster / Headmaster Spasma looks great, poseable enough to fit all modes
    • Highly pose-able in bot mode, which is impressive given that this is a triple changer
  • Transformation to Ape
    • Transformation to Ape mode is reasonable, makes sense, everything tabs in if done right
  • Ape mode
    • He’s a freakin’ ape!
    • Transformer bot does a great job of looking like an animal, that’s no small feat!
    • He can get in to tons of fun ape poses
  • Transformation to Ship mode
    • Again, intuitive, all items tab properly, especially when directions are followed
  • Ship mode
    • He’s a really cool looking space ship / future jet
    • Spasma fits well in the cockpit

The Rest

Apeface is a late addition to the War For Cybertron S.I.E.G.E. line.  In fact he and Astrotrain, as Triple Changers, are likely to be the last two WFC:S bots put out before Earthrise.  It will be very interesting to see how the Earthrise aesthetic meshes with WFC:S, We can’t wait!  But we are also glad to get these fantastic, Cybertron applicable bots at the end!
